red-crested pochard

Went to look for waders again at Denton res, just a couple of common sands seen. A female red-crested pochard was here. Interestingly it showed some red on the lower mandible, a feature not shown in many bird books, I was wondering if it was a young drake, but no, it is a female in breeding plumage. Normally it would have just a pinkish tip to the bill. Wonder where it came from.
