Mayday.

Now it seems a bit more like spring.

Marston this morning;

Warblers now in decent numbers. Garden warbler, one at the works end, one near the hide. Chiffs, willows, blackcaps, whitethroats, lesser whitethroat, reed and sedge all singing.

Hobby, low overhead.

Tufted duck, pair. Common I know, but first ones here this year.

Little egret on the scrape.

Waterwell lane, Ancaster;

Six wheatears.

Five yellow wagtails.

Four corn buntings.

Three curlews and a couple of pairs of lapwings.

Grey partridge plus lots of red-leggeds.

Marston, late afternoon;

Twelve yellow wags at the fields sw of the hotel plus single wheatear and female flava wagtail. Lesser whitethroat and sparrowhawk.

Back at the sewage works, over 200 house martins, 60 swallows, 20 sand martins, 6 swifts and 8 yellow wagtails on the settling pans.
