Mon 25th Jan 2016.
We started at Cleethorpes country park, where the red-necked grebe gave good close views.
Calling in at Covenham reservoir, we located a black-necked grebe. It was way out in the middle of the res. We had to wait yonks before it came nearer to us. Great crested and little grebes were added to the list. We were thinking wow, we only need a slav for the set!(but never imagined finding one).
Next we popped in to Toft newton reservoir, actually my first ever visit here. Target bird was a redhead smew that had been reported here a few days ago. No sign but guess what? yep! a slavonian grebe. Bingo.
