I spent 3 hours in the deer park this morning hoping to relocate the Lesser Spotted Woodpecker that I had at the weekend, a message from Spadge this morning suggested the Marston Massive were going to try for it also, so would have been good to meet up but I was there too early for them .
I unfortunately couldn’t find any on this occasion but did see Coal Tit, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Great Spotted Woodpecker (Drumming ) loads of Redwing and Fieldfare, several Treecreeper, 4 Nuthatch and a few Goldfinch. The Coal Tit was feeding within 6 feet of me on the floor, totally oblivious to my presence.
I then checked the Golf Course lakes for Goosander but they didn’t materialize either, a single Little Egret here was a bonus though. 10 Cormorant were very vocal all sat in a tree together, a very high number for this site.
I then disturbed a Beautiful Fox who was stalking Teal in the marsh, he then proceeded to snuggle up on a sunny bank and soak up the suns rays !
So nothing spectacular but wow what a beautiful morning !
