Aberrant plumaged birds

My interest in odd plumages and colour mutations in birds was given a huge boost recently. I had a meeting with Hein van Grouw, curator of birds at Tring natural history museam, and a leader in this field. I learned a lot and he gave me a couple of the papers he had written. (Links below). A very interesting read.

Hein was very interested in my photos, below are some from this year.

blackbird, grantham canal
carrion crow, hough on the hill, a must see bird if ever there was one
coot, startops res, herts
house sparrow, st agnes, scillies
reed bunting, marston
white black headed gull, denton
and a favourite from 2008- rock pipit, cornwall
