WITHAM MOUTH,WEDS.This egret immediately caught my eye this morning. It’s bill seemed slightly down-curved, (much more apparent in the field). It was a bit bigger than a little egret next to it. It spent a lot of the time in an upright stance. Twice, when a little egret got close to it, it was handbags, with the birds making loud kaaaaking sounds-very unusual, little egrets are normally silent.
Conclusion; well none yet. Poss. sub sp. reef heron? Maybe just a bog standard, slightly bigger than usual, odd-billed little egret with a bad temper!
I will put the rest of my day’s sightings on a later posting.
