Sharon received a message via one of her friends on facebook, complete with a photograph of a stunning leucistic blackbird. I popped out early this morning and really enjoyed the bird, getting a few pics. It is an absolute poseur, sometimes sitting out in full view, drawing attention to itself, constantly cluck, cluck, clucking.
The bird can be seen along the Grantham canal at Casthorpe. Park at Casthorpe bridge, walk approx. 500m (towards Woolsthorpe-by-Belvoir). It is faithful to the far bank of the canal about 50m before a (rare) bridle bridge, where it feeds on ivy berries. Been there a couple of years, apparently.
