I set out with great hope as the weather was so good, starting first at Marston STW where I met GW and SL. Plenty of wildfowl around for a change with good numbers of Gadwall, Teal and Wigeon and a single Pink Foot among the 400 or so Greylags ( click on the thumbnail to see a larger image):

Large numbers of small birds on the leek field and adjoining hedgerow including Pied Wagtail (11), Chaffinch (c60), Goldfinch (c30) and Reed Bunting (c20).
And a pair of Bullfinch near the car park:

Then home for lunch and after a visit to Turnor Road to try to get a glimpse of Nezzy’s Little Owls. Met SL there and found the barn OK but no sign in the time we were there. Then over to Aisby for the GGS but despite a long search only found Red Kites and Buzzards. The Kite seem to favour a large semi-dead tree just North of the Aunsby Road:

Pretty difficult conditions with the low sun so contrast is a little high and shadow detail lost.
With the Canon 7D as my Olympus has had to be sent all the way to Portugal to have a bit of grippy rubber stuck back on!

Its amazing David I was on site around lunchtime and there wasn’t a single bird around the leek field , it just goes to show that timing is key, I did have a Peregrine stoop from about 200ft tho straight down ! Brilliant
