A quick visit this morning was disappointing as there was hardly any movement or sounds. The scrape was totally overwhelmed by Greylag Geese with c170 occupying all but the deeper water. Apart from a few Mallard there were three Green Sandpiper, two Oystercatcher and two Grey Heron. A flock of c60 Lapwing flew over South West.
One of the Herons was exhibiting some strange behaviour, I thought it was trying ti pick up what looked like an Eel just off the island:
But it obviously wasn’t:

On looking at my book after posting I’ve decided that the Footman Motht is actually a Dingy Footman as the yellow/cream stripes on the outside edge of the forewing are rather indistinct as opposed to the Common which has a broader more distinct stripe.
