With temperatures at 25 deg. everything slowed down at Marston. Very little activity from the birds with just 3 or 4 Reed Warblers singing and a couple of Whitethroats. No Hirundines seen although I was pestered by flies landing on my face, arms and legs. However there was some activity on the scrape with a juvenile Shelduck, six Green Sandpipers, a LRP and the two OCs with rapidly growing chick.
There were also a good number of flying insects around with numerous Large Skippers, Painted Ladies, Peacocks, Small Tortoiseshells, Silver “Y”s and lots of Common Bluets including a couple of “blue form” females, also a couple of male Variable Damsels.
All with Olympus E-M5 and M75-300mm – some with extension tubes.
