Iceland Gull.

Another gullology lesson was in order today as I met up with maestro Dean at Gainsborough landfill.Target bird was a Kumlien’s gull that Dean had found previously but was proving elusive. It wasn’t long before the master picked up a white-winger,but it wasn’t the kums,it was a different bird,a lovely first winter iceland gull. Some long distance photos below.

Later we studied an adult herring gull with yellow legs.A rare variant of herring gull from Eastern Europe.Other birds seen: 3 buzzard, pair of g s woodpecker, grey wag,2 oystercatcher, lots of snipe.
