An hour @ Marston STW

After walking along the river at Syston village to see if I could see the Kingfisher I caught fleeting when last there again (did not see it this time!) I decided to call into Marston hide for an hour before calling to pick up my daughter and grandson. I did see a couple of Swan though, photo below …

Not a lot there really from the MSTW hide but below a list of what was seen …

x2 Shelduck, x6 Tufted Duck, x4  Mallard, x1 Green Sandpiper, x2 very territorial nesting Coots, x2 Moorhen, Gadwall, x2 Oyster Catchers (1 seemed to have a bad right leg), Robin, Wren, 2 Chiffchaff heard near path up to hide. x2Gadwall, x8Teal, x1 Greylag Goose, several Wood Pigeon, several Corvids and x2 Shovellers.

Walking back to hide in the distance I saw what I initially thought was a couple of Pied Wagtails scurrying across the ground but these turned out to be x2 Little Ringed Plovers feeding on the 1st turf field next to the car park, image of 1 bird shown below, taken from distance …
